At the pictorial of Star Cinema’s My Only You—the movie which reunites the comic tandem of Vhong Navarro and Toni Gonzaga after D’ Anothers(2005)—the former finally admitted that there was a point where he and Toni could have entered a romantic relationship during their Wazzup Wazzup days. “Well, parating dun eh. Masaya kasi kami. The dashing comedian proudly revealed that Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina is so impressed with their chemistry that she says that the film would have run smoothly even without a script. Toni explains their fun working relationship further. “Ay hindi naman nawawala yun. On- and off- camera I think we have that [chemistry] kasi the friendship, the bonding is real. Siguro I can say that he’s one of the few people who got really close to me. What about the so-called “what might have been” between them? The actress-host further explains that their friendship could have turned into a full-blown romance if not for their very relaxed treatment of each other. Toni also admits that what she has with Vhong will always remain special. “S’ya naman kasi yung original. And kahit na meron na kaming special someone we both know na meron kamingsoft spot for each other.” In the meantime, she’s very excited about their new movie, My Only You. “It’s very different from our first movie kasi D’ Anothers is pure comedy. This one will focus more on the story, the friendship, and the bonding of the two characters in the movie. With our director Direk Cathy, she will really change the perception sa amin ng mga tao na puro pagpapatawa lang,” she enthuses. Should the moviegoers also expect them to have kissing scenes this time? “Ah baka ano bed scene siguro, chos! Ah wala, wala... Siguro ‘di ko pa ‘yan masasagot sa ngayon,” she answers. Pegged as a hilarious love story with a twist, My Only You revolves around a tenement rental guy (Navarro) who is disliked by the tenants for his strict payment policies. A fellow tenant (played by Gonzaga), however, often comes to their rescue, which endears her to them. What happens if true love suddenly blooms between? More importantly, how can they make the most out of it knowing that the girl could die anytime soon? This is Direk Cathy’s follow up project to the blockbuster A Very Special Love. Does she think this romantic comedy can beat A Very Special Love’s record-breaking success? We’re just really thankful na nabigyan kami ng opportunity na kahit papano masimulan namin yung movie this year. Ineexpect ko kasi next yearpa. Hindi na mawawala yung pressure so pinagpre-pray na lang namin, na Star Cinema’s My Only You is set to open in theatres this year.by Rachelle Siazon | September 16, 2008 8:46 AM |
