Vhong Navarro is thankful for a good year in showbiz

Currently enjoying his hilarious role as Betty’s best friend Nicolas on the hot new series I Love Betty La Fea, comedian-dancer Vhong Navarro is definitely one lucky Kapamilya. “Meron din namang good years na dumating sa akin before, pero itong2008 kasi naging maganda rin in terms of working outside of the country. Ang dami kong ginawangshows abroad at nakita ko yung mga bansa na hindi ko pa napupuntahan at pinapangarap kong makita. And then finally ngayon siguro maganda itong month na ito because afterSuper Papalicious nagkaroon naman ako ng bagong series,” Vhong explains.

After Lastikman, Vhong was last seen paired with KC Concepcion in I Am KC’s Love to Dance episode. “’Pag meron akong busy days this year, as in dire-diretso na yan. Pero dito na lang ulit ako naging busy.Itong later part of the year,” he adds.

Playing a wacky character onscreen is not a big stretch for Vhong who has been dubbed as the Jim Carrey of the Philippines and has proven his talent with a slew of hit comedies like Supah Papalicious, Agent X-44,Otso-Otso Pamela One and Mr. Suave. With the role of Nicolas though, the comedian admits that it’s become a big challenge for him in terms of acting. “Sobrang hirap din pala. Akala ko magiging madali lang. Kasi kay Nicolas, kahit hindi ako nagsasalita, siyempre meron siyang mga movement, hindi naman puwedeng naka-steady lang yun. Kumbaga nakakapagod kahit wala ka akong lines. Pero at least ang maganda, napapasaya namin ang mga Kapamilya natin,” he says sincerely.

Currently busy preparing for his new Star records album with the rest of the Streetboys entitled, Let’s Dance!, as well as taping for I Love Betty La Fea, Vhong definitely has his hands full with more incoming projects and surprises as well. “Masayang-masaya po ako ngayon kasi meron akong ginagawang pelikula na malapit na rin ipalabas next month,” he shares. Vhong admits that in between movie and TV tapings, he doesn’t have much choice but to just stay at home and rest during his days off. “Mag-re-relax lang ako. Madalas nasa bahay lang ako. Maglalaro ako ng Playstation or mag-babasketball ako. Minsan manunuod ako ng movie with my family. Simple lang naman mga gusto ko gawin,” he admits. This coming November, Vhong once again heads abroad to do shows for The Filipino Channel (TFC).
