Vhong Navarro targets Angelica Panganiban

Vhong Navarro was very excited when he signed a two-picture contract with Star Cinema. The actor-dancer shared that he will soon begin shooting a movie with Angelica Panganiban which will be directed by Joyce Bernal. “Thirty-two projects talaga dapat ang gagawin ko sa Star Cinema. Pero nagbago ang isip ni Tita Malou (Santos, managing director of Star Cinema) kaya dalawang pelikula na lang, ha ha ha! ‘Yung isang movie kay Direk Joyce Bernal at si Angelica Panganiban ang kasama ko. Hindi ko pa alam ‘yung title ng movie pero baka mag-start kami mag-shoot this August. Suspense thriller yata.”

The Streetboys member was last seen on the big screen in the romantic comedy My Only U opposite Toni Gonzaga. He is expected to have a cameo appearance in Kimmydora: Kambal sa Kiyeme, a film produced by Piolo Pascual. Vhong is regularly seen every Sunday on ASAP 09 together with fellow Kanto Boys Luis Manzano, Billy Crawford, and John Lloyd Cruz. After wrapping up his TV role as Nicholas in I Love Betty La Fea, Vhong will again wear his costume as Lastikman for the superserye Isang Lakas slated for next year.

Vhong appeared for his contract signing wearing sunglasses to cover up the bruise on his right eye caused by an accident while playing basketball. “Si Kobe Bryant kasi ‘yung kalaro ko, joke! Na-scratch sa loob ‘yung mata ko. Buti nga pawala na ‘yung maga e.” He immediately denied that his eye was swelling because he’s been crying over his break up with Desiree Del Valle. “Naiiyak ako…sa sobrang saya dahil nakapirma ako ng kontrata sa Star Cinema. Excited na ako sa dalawang pelikulang gagawin ko. Nakakataba ng puso kasi ibang klase gumawa ng pelikula ang Star Cinema, maalaga sila sa mga artista nila.”

Although without going into details, Vhong had admitted in previous interviews that he and girlfriend Desiree have broken up. But the two remain good friends, and he said that the split did not hinder him to extend help to Desiree when her father recently passed away. “Okay kami. Magkaibigan kami. Before pa mamatay ‘yung dad niya nagkausap kami ni Des. Humihingi siya ng tulong sa akin para makaalis siya papuntang US (where Desiree’s father has been fighting a serious illness). Ayoko nang sabihin kung ano ‘yung ginawa ko. Alam kong importante ‘yun kasi dad niya ‘yun. Napakalungkot ng nangyari.”

Vhong immediately sent his deepest condolences to Desiree when he learned that her father had passed away. He said that he also asked their other friends to get in touch with Desiree. “Nakiramay na rin ako sa kanya. Pati mga friends namin tinext ko rin para makiramay din sa kanya. Pinakamamahal kasi ni Des ‘yung dad niya.”

Now that he’s single, Vhong clarified that he is not yet ready to date again and would rather devote his time to work. “Hindi muna. Trabaho muna ako. Ayusin ko muna ‘yung mata ko. Para kapag tumingin sila sa mata ko e mafo-fall na sila. Magugustuhan na nila ‘yung mata ko,” he jokingly answered.
